PRECISION GOLF 360: Junior Golf Development Program
A 6-Week Journey to Golf Excellence*, PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE PROGRAM a 9-week low level competition inclusive golf program
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: JOHN ZUPAN, PGA
John Zupan is a certified PGA Instructor with a passion for developing young golfers that began in his own childhood. At just 5 years old, John won his first tournament, sparking a lifelong love for the game that has only grown stronger with time. This early success helped shape his understanding of how golf can positively impact young lives.
As a specialist in the American Development Model, John brings a wealth of knowledge from his PGA of America education to create age-appropriate training that focuses on fun, engagement, and progressive skill development. His teaching philosophy centers on building fundamentals while nurturing a love for the game that will last a lifetime.
John’s approach blends technical expertise with character development, recognizing that the values learned on the golf course—integrity, perseverance, respect, and focus—extend far beyond into every aspect of life.
WHY JUNIOR GOLF MATTERS
Golf is truly a lifelong sport that can be enjoyed from childhood well into one’s senior years. Unlike many athletic activities that become difficult with age, golf can be played and enjoyed for decades, making it an investment in lifelong physical activity and social connection.
For juniors, the benefits are particularly significant:
- **Physical Development**: Enhances coordination, balance, and strength during crucial developmental years
- **Mental Growth**: Develops focus, problem-solving, and emotional regulation
- **Social Skills**: Teaches etiquette, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction
- **Character Building**: Instills values like honesty, integrity, and perseverance
- **Lifetime Opportunities**: with a solid base golf opens doors to college scholarships, business networking, and lifelong friendships
The skills and values acquired through junior golf create a foundation not just for athletic success, but for success in life. At Precision Golf360, we’re committed to developing not just better golfers, but better individuals.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our 6-week program has been carefully designed to introduce juniors to all fundamental aspects of golf while making connections to important life values. Each week builds upon previous lessons, creating a comprehensive foundation for continued growth in the sport. Group lessons are available for this age group.
WEEK 1: GRIP, POSTURE & STANCE *Core Value Focus: INTEGRITY*
**Technical Skills:**
- – Proper grip technique: interlocking, overlapping, and ten-finger options
- – Athletic posture fundamentals: spine angle, knee flex, and weight distribution
- – Stance width and alignment: square, open, and closed stances
- – Ball position basics for different clubs
- – take away and motion of the body in the swinging motion
**Value Connection:**
Just as integrity means being true to one’s values regardless of circumstances, a proper grip and stance form the unwavering foundation of every golf shot. We’ll discuss how maintaining proper fundamentals despite challenges mirrors maintaining personal integrity in difficult situations.
**Practice Activities:**
- – Mirror work for posture assessment
- – Develop and recognize pressure points for stance development
- – Instruction on proper pressure in the hands and fingers
- – Fun student-instructor interaction reinforcing proper setup
- – Beginning of the takeaway
WEEK 2: THE SWING FUNDAMENTALS - TAKEAWAY & BACKSWING *Core Value Focus: PERSEVERANCE*
**Technical Skills:**
- – One-piece takeaway fundamentals
- – Proper wrist hinging and arm rotation
- – Understanding swing plane basics
- – Weight transfer initiation
- – Common backswing mistakes and corrections, forward motion of the golf swing
**Value Connection:**
The backswing requires patience and proper sequencing—rushing leads to errors. Similarly, perseverance in life means staying committed to the process even when results aren’t immediate. We’ll explore how developing a consistent backswing, despite initial challenges, builds the same mental resilience needed to overcome obstacles in life.
**Practice Activities:**
- – Half-swing drills with immediate feedback
- – Video analysis and instruction for takeaway positions
- – Progressive swing-building exercises
- – Perseverance challenges with achievable individual goals
WEEK 3: FORWARD MOTION & CONTACT *Core Value Focus: RESPONSIBILITY*
**Technical Skills:**
- – Proper downswing sequence
- – Impact position fundamentals
- – Weight transfer completion
- – Follow-through basics
- – Common contact issues and solutions
**Value Connection:**
Taking responsibility means acknowledging our role in outcomes. In golf, the quality of contact is directly related to our swing decisions. We’ll discuss how accepting responsibility for both good and bad shots reflects taking ownership in life, and how making adjustments demonstrates personal growth.
**Practice Activities:**
- – Impact bag exercises

**Value Connection:**
The short game requires respect for subtle details and course conditions. Similarly, respect in life means recognizing the importance of small gestures and different perspectives. We’ll explore how showing respect for the course, equipment, and golf traditions mirrors showing respect for others and oneself.
**Practice Activities:**
- Putting path and distance control exercises

CORE VALUES & GOLF: THE DEEPER CONNECTION
At Precision Golf360, we believe the connection between golf and life values goes beyond simple metaphors. Throughout our program, we highlight five essential connections:
1. INTEGRITY & THE RULEBOOK
Golf is unique in that players often call penalties on themselves. This self-governance develops a deep sense of integrity that transfers to all areas of life. Just as golfers must be truthful about their score and play, this honesty becomes ingrained in their character, influencing decisions far from the course.
**How We Teach It:** Through scenarios where juniors practice calling their own infractions and discussing how this builds trust with others.
2. PERSEVERANCE & THE PRACTICE RANGE
Improvement in golf requires thousands of repetitions and overcoming countless frustrations. This develops perseverance that helps juniors push through challenges in academics, relationships, and future careers. The delayed gratification of golf practice creates resilience for life’s longer journeys.
**How We Teach It:** By setting incremental goals, celebrating small improvements, and normalizing setbacks as part of the learning process.
3. RESPONSIBILITY & COURSE MANAGEMENT
Every shot in golf represents a decision with consequences. Taking responsibility for club selection, risk assessment, and shot execution prepares juniors for making important life decisions. The course becomes a training ground for weighing options and accepting outcomes.
**How We Teach It:** Through guided decision-making exercises where each student explains their choices and reflects on results.
4. RESPECT & ETIQUETTE
Golf’s rich traditions of etiquette—from maintaining silence during others’ shots to repairing divots—instills a deep respect for others, shared spaces, and traditions. This awareness of how our actions affect others creates more thoughtful, considerate individuals.
**How We Teach It:** By modeling respectful behavior, explaining the “why” behind etiquette rules, and creating scenarios to practice courtesy.
5. SPORTSMANSHIP & EMOTIONAL CONTROL
Golf’s challenging nature provides countless opportunities to practice emotional regulation. Learning to manage frustration, maintain focus after setbacks, and congratulate others’ successes develops emotional intelligence that serves juniors throughout life.
**How We Teach It:** Through reflection exercises after emotional moments and developing personalized strategies for maintaining composure.
RULES & ETIQUETTE FOUNDATION
An essential component of our curriculum is introducing juniors to the basic rules of golf and proper etiquette that will arise during play. These lessons are integrated throughout the program and include:
**Rules Introduction:**
- – Ball in play and out of bounds
- – Lost ball procedures
- – Proper dropping techniques
- – Unplayable lie options
- – Basic scoring and penalties
- – Order of play and ready golf
- – Water hazard navigation
**Etiquette Essentials:**
- – Respect for fellow players (being quiet and still during others’ shots)
- – Care for the course (replacing divots, repairing ball marks, raking bunkers)
- – Pace of play awareness
- – Proper golf attire
- – Flagstick and putting green etiquette
- – Safe club handling and awareness
- – Post-round handshakes and acknowledgments
These rules and etiquette lessons are taught through interactive scenarios, on-course experiences, and engaging games that make learning enjoyable rather than overwhelming.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT & INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT
Parents and especially grandparents are welcome and encouraged to observe sessions. This program offers many families the special opportunity to watch their loved one make independent decisions through golf, often for the first time. This observation creates meaningful family conversations and a shared interest that can span generations.
The Precision Golf360 Junior Program also emphasizes the social aspects of golf by:
- – Fostering individual growth alongside social interaction
- – Organizing appropriate individual challenges that build confidence
- – Providing supervised practice time where students can interact naturally
- – Encouraging long-term friendships through shared experiences
- – Emphasizing fun and enjoyment as primary goals
Our instructors ensure that every student receives personalized attention while also having the opportunity to connect with peers of similar age and skill level. These connections often develop into lifelong friendships built around the game.
